Students Have Said...

I took private guitar lessons with Chris for six years, from the time I was nine until I was fifteen. I had no formal background in music prior to this. Chris helped me build my guitar and music skills from the ground up, teaching me everything from reading music, to scales, to music theory.

The lessons were individualized to the type of music that I was interested in playing, which motivated my learning. Chris is a very knowledgeable, patient, encouraging and skilled teacher and musician. Even though my lessons have ended, he continues to support me in my musical endeavors.

He also sparked my interest for recorded music, as I am currently enrolled in the Music Technology program at NYU. I would highly recommend Chris as an instructor.

Kate Gallagher

guitarist / vocalist

Chris from Practical Music Lessons, is one of the most talented and knowledgeable musicians I have ever met in my life. As a multi-instrumentalist, his command of guitar, bass, drums, piano, and voice rivals anyone who claims to specialize in even one of these disciplines.

I took private lessons from him for about five years from eighth to twelfth grade on the bass guitar, and he taught me the foundation of everything I know about music.

As a session bass player living in New York City who plays professionally with artists of all backgrounds, I can attest that Chris will give you everything you need to pursue your musical vision, whether you dream of a profession in the arts or simply want to learn your favorite songs

Steve Conroy

electric bassist

Chris Arter taught my son guitar for 10 years. He was always punctual, very interested in making sure that my son understood his lessons and stressed the importance of practicing. He was good at teaching both the basics and later on more advanced techniques. He also taught him both electric and classical guitar.

He also taught my other two sons (piano and drums) but they decided not to pursue lessons as long as our other son. However, they still enjoyed him much more than their previous teacher.

I would recommend Chris to anyone who is looking for an excellent music teacher.
